The Peugeot TU3JP is a 1.4-liter naturally aspirated inline-four petrol engine produced from 1993 to 2012, one of PSA's most widely used small-car engines of the 1990s and 2000s, found across the Peugeot 206 and 307, and the Citroën C2, C3, and Xsara. As part of PSA's long-serving TU engine family, the TU3JP represented the company's simple, dependable entry-level engine for compact cars during an era when many buyers still prioritized low cost and mechanical simplicity over outright refinement or performance.
Producing a modest 68-75hp and 118-128Nm of torque from 1,360cc, the TU3JP uses a single overhead camshaft (SOHC) head and a compression ratio of 9.3:1, with conventional carburetor or early fuel injection depending on production year, keeping the design about as mechanically simple as a modern engine gets.
