The Mazda Skyactiv-G 2.0 is a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated inline-four petrol engine introduced in 2011 as one of the founding members of Mazda's Skyactiv Technology initiative. Developed as a clean-sheet design rather than an evolution of Mazda's earlier MZR engines, the Skyactiv-G 2.0 was built around a singular engineering goal: achieving the fuel efficiency benefits typically associated with downsized turbocharged engines, but without forced induction, turbo lag, or the added long-term complexity of a turbocharger.
