Description
The Chevrolet LSA is a supercharged 6.2-liter member of the wider LS family created to deliver extreme performance in more usable and more broadly deployed applications than the ultra-rare LS9. It became best known in the Cadillac CTS-V and Camaro ZL1, where it offered huge torque and effortless power in a package that remained relatively robust for street use.
Chevrolet and GM developed the LSA as a lower-stress but still very serious alternative to the LS9. It used the same basic 6.2-liter pushrod V8 architecture, Eaton supercharging, and strong low-end torque delivery, but with a less aggressive factory output level. Depending on application, the LSA produced roughly 556 to 580 HP and around 747 Nm of torque, placing it well above naturally aspirated LS engines while remaining easier to live with than the most extreme halo variants.
In practice, the LSA is one of the most attractive forced-induction LS engines for enthusiasts who want huge performance without stepping all the way into LS9 territory. It has strong aftermarket support, serious tuning potential, and enough factory performance to make almost any vehicle feel violently quick.
