The Twin Spark engine was the powerplant for some of the most characterful Alfa Romeos of its era, including the 155 (1992-1998), 156 (1997-2007), 147 (2000-2010), and GT coupe. These cars built a devoted following not just for their looks and handling but specifically for how the Twin Spark engine felt and sounded in use. The combination of free-revving DOHC architecture with the twin-plug combustion efficiency produces an engine that rewards high-rpm driving without punishing you when traffic forces a more relaxed approach. Real-world fuel consumption of 7-10 liters per 100 km is respectable for a naturally aspirated petrol engine covering this power range.
