Description
The high-output 3.5 EcoBoost V6 is the performance-focused branch of Ford's second-generation 3.5-liter EcoBoost family. It was developed for applications that needed more than the standard truck tune, especially the F-150 Raptor and later the Lincoln Navigator and certain high-performance Expedition versions. Compared with mainstream versions, the HO engine uses a more aggressive calibration and hardware tuning aimed at sustaining much stronger output under load.
In factory form, the high-output version typically delivers between 440 and 450 HP with around 691 Nm of torque. It keeps the second-generation engine's dual-injection layout, twin turbochargers, aluminum construction, DOHC 24-valve heads, and chain-driven cams, but it is calibrated for a more performance-oriented duty cycle. This makes it one of the most serious factory truck-based petrol V6 engines Ford has ever sold.
In practice, the HO version offers exceptional real-world acceleration and towing performance, but it also raises the stakes for maintenance quality, heat management, and parts cost. It is not a fundamentally different engine family, but it is a more stressed variant that benefits from careful servicing and better-than-average ownership discipline.
