Description
The Ford GT version of the 3.5 EcoBoost is the most extreme factory development of the 3.5-liter EcoBoost architecture. Introduced for the second-generation Ford GT, it took the basic D35 family concept and pushed it into true supercar territory with major cooling, breathing, lubrication, and calibration changes. While still related to the broader 3.5 EcoBoost family, this engine should not be confused with the mainstream truck and SUV versions.
Factory output started at 647 HP and later rose to 660 HP, while torque remained at about 746 Nm. The engine retained twin turbochargers, dual overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder, and the later dual-injection strategy, but it was engineered for a far more demanding performance environment than a production truck or SUV. It is essentially the halo version of the family rather than a normal derivative.
This is an important child variant because it shows how far the EcoBoost 3.5 platform could be developed. At the same time, it has little in common with mainstream ownership expectations: service, parts, and operating conditions are all in a different league from ordinary road-going Ford applications.
